Physiotherapy treatment plays a vital role in healing, rehabilitation and pain relief for bone, muscle, nerve and joint injuries and conditions. We treat injuries and disease by correcting and improving the body’s own natural healing mechanisms without the use of medication or the knife.

Physiotherapists treat the cause of the problem as well as the symptoms.

Treatments are evidence-based, firmly rooted in the scientific approach of modern medicine and backed up by comprehensive research.”

CONDITIONS TREATED

  • Back and neck pain
  • Sciatica and headaches
  • Sports Injuries
  • Work related upper limb disorders (repetitive strain injuries)
  • Joint pain and swelling
  • Sprains and strains
  • Post fracture/dislocation and post surgery

An initial consultation involves the taking of a detailed history, a physical examination of the problem area and, where appropriate, an assessment of posture and gait. A clinical diagnosis can then be determined and a treatment plan formulated with a full explanation of the findings.

Further consultations include treatment, advice and a self-treatment programme. The treatment may involve manual therapy (to loosen stiff joints or tighten soft tissue), electrotherapy (e.g. ultrasound to help the healing process) and tailored exercises to mobilise joints, strengthen muscles and improve balance and coordination.

Central to a treatment programme is the identification of the potential causes of the condition; these can range from something as general as poor posture or an unsuitable work station to something as specific as a bad technique when in a tennis serve. Advice on posture, back care and prevention is a vital part of the programme.
